Theory Lessons
The education and teaching of surf has just like any other sport activities that belong to our society have a very important role.
Education “a process that promotes mans harmonious development at a intellectual, moral and physical level and his insertion in (surfing) society” is developed in relaxed settings, in a classroom on the sand by people that are in love with this sport and that dedicate their life’s to acquiring and transmitting theoretical and practical knowledge.
The learning of safety rules, priorities while in the sea, line-up positioning, etc develops the surfer at a social level to be responsible and respectful and at a personal level to improve their surfing skills as an athlete.
The theory lessons can be administered in our classrooms on the sand or in the school by watching recordings of practical classes and films as well as reading magazines and specialized books that the school has in the library together with technological and IT equipment that can be used for self-learning.
The practical lessons take place in the best waves in the country favouring our lessons with the most ideal conditions nature can give us. The line of the coast, the depth and strong winds allow for good surf all year round.
Practice is the key for anyone that wants to evolve in any sport and this practice should be supervised by professionals to avoid learning errors, delay the initial learning stage or stagnate evolution.
The surf lesson in a swimming-pool is a complement to the surf lessons in the sea. In this alternative class the teacher makes an evaluation of each students capacities at various levels, such as his swimming skills, balance on the board, fastness and dexterity while rowing, turning, at take-offs, rail changes, rising onto the board and basic safety and survival rules.
A good evaluation of the students skills will allow and personalized and highly efficient teaching.
The swimming pool lesson also allows higher level students to improve their physical strength and practice certain techniques like the crowl that will help the quality, fastness and resistance of their rowing which is an important part of surfing. They can also train breathing techniques that for big wave surfers is very important.
